In 1933 he opened a studio in Berlin. Following the rise of the Nazi party to power in 1934, he immigrated to Jerusalem. He set up a photography lab in his home and was commissioned by various institutions, such as the Bezalel Academy and the Hebrew University. Most of Bernheim&#8217;s work focused on creating portraits and architectural photographs.
