Inspired by an idea of Polly Van Leer\u2019s son, <em>Chronicles<\/em> was printed in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ismardavidarchive.org\/indexofnames\/rehavia\/\">Rehavia<\/a> and includes many of the typical newpaper rubrics, like Names in the News and Letters to the Editor, all written as if contemporaneous to the events described. \u201cIt is devoted to turning a contemporary spotlight on ancient history. Here the age-old tales are retold in lively, modern prose\u2014in a manner that teases the mind and illuminates their significance fo the twentieth-century readers.\u201d<sup class=\"modern-footnotes-footnote modern-footnotes-footnote--expands-on-desktop \" data-mfn=\"1\" data-mfn-post-scope=\"00000000000004f00000000000000000_1157\"><a href=\"javascript:void(0)\"  role=\"button\" aria-pressed=\"false\" aria-describedby=\"mfn-content-00000000000004f00000000000000000_1157-1\">1<\/a><\/sup><span id=\"mfn-content-00000000000004f00000000000000000_1157-1\" role=\"tooltip\" class=\"modern-footnotes-footnote__note\" tabindex=\"0\" data-mfn=\"1\">The Suburban List, Thurday, July 11, 1957.<\/span> Initially printed monthly and available at news stands, the Reubeni Foundation began collecting the issues in volumes in 1954.
